SCOTUS nomination to come tonight

"President Bush has made his decision about whom he plans to nominate to take Sandra Day O'Connor's place on the Supreme Court and will announce his pick to the nation in a prime-time address Tuesday night."

It's an interesting move by Bushco to shift the focus away from the Rove leak, however I think they are going to be hardpressed to do so. Most likely the nomination is going to go to Clement, no one worth getting excited about. She is a moderate who errs against activism, but is occasionally an activist herself. She hasn't had to rule on too many crucial issues, so she doesn't give anyone a whole lot of amunition. The best thing for the Bush administration would have been to pick someone who would have been a significant fight in the Senate so as to distract from their other problems. After this announcement tonight I don't forsee much of a fight for Clement, however, if Specter is true fan he will introduce her to committee as "Clement, clement hands of cement."
